LSU Tigers Land Elite Oregon Ducks Transfer OF Angel Laya
· Yahoo Sports
Elite recruiter Jay Johnson has done it again, as the LSU Tigers have added the top available transfer player in former Oregon Ducks outfielder Angel Laya on Friday afternoon, per Kendall Rogers.
Laya is immediately one of the most talented players on the roster, and he has three years of eligibility remaining, as he is coming off an incredible freshman season. He probably won't last that long as he was already the No. 152 player in the draft coming out of high school.

Last year for the Ducks, Laya posted a .296/.396/.538 slash line with 14 home runs and 47 RBI. Hitting 14 home runs as a freshman certainly wasn't expected, but is very encouraging given how good everything else looks.
While he hasn't officially announced the decision, making this move makes it clear that the Tigers are going to be losing Jake Brown to the MLB draft. The very much expected outcome to be sure. While it'll still hurt, the addition of Laya makes it hurt a lot less.
Now, LSU has a player who could potentially anchor their lineup for the next two seasons. He is draft-eligible in 2028, and that is likely when he'll become a first-round pick.
The Tigers can now put together a deadly lineup of hitters, with a clear focus after the disappointment last year. The transfers could end up not working out again, but this looks like a far more reliable crop of additions.
Here's a potential look at what the batting order could look like next year:
DH - Omar Cerna Jr.
C - Cade Arrambide
1B - Mason Braun
2B - Cade Kurland
SS - Steven Milam
LF - Bino Watters
CF - Jason Wachs
RF - Angel Laya
That is as good of a lineup as a college could produce. LSU fans should be looking forward to a much more fun offense this coming season.
