South African actress Luyanda Zwane dropped a bombshell, recounting the moment when a co-star “pointed a gun” at her while inside a production car on their way to shoot Sibongile and the Dlaminis.
LUYANDA ZWANE REVEALS THAT A GUN WAS POINTED AT HER
In a candid interview with Shamiso Mosaka and Phil Mphela on their Read The Room podcast on 2 July, Luyanda was asked to elaborate on the issue of being discouraged from speaking out against injustice.

She revealed that the reason for not joining season two of Sibongile and the Dlaminis stemmed from the lack of action against the said colleague.
“I was on a very famous show; everyone knows Sibongile and the Dlaminis. I went through something on the set of Sibongile and the Dlaminis,” she began.
She added “I remember that day it was 05:00 in the morning, so early, it’s still dark, and I’m like, I have 20 scenes today, I just want to relax, I want to be in silence in the car.”
“And I said to him [co-star], bro, can you please not play music right now? And [then] he took out a gun and pointed the gun at me and said, this is not your mother’s car,” she said.

THE PRODUCTION COMPANY DIDN’T SUPPORT LUYANDA
The young actress stated that the production company did not support her during the ordeal.
“I go to the producers. I’m like, guys, this is what happened, they said, but did you die? Nothing has happened. He didn’t pull the trigger, so can you please just go to set because right now, we’re running out of time,” she said.
The producers set up a meeting to establish a “common ground” without involving the police. Luyanda then proposed that they shouldn’t assign the same car as the actor in question because he made her feel uncomfortable.
“The common ground was [that] I don’t want to be in the same car as him moving forward. I feel really unsafe. My work is based on my mental health, so if that’s compromised, I won’t be able to perform well,” she said.
Unfortunately, this solution didn’t work in her favour after a while.
“They implemented that for a week or two, and then after that they were like, ‘ You’re actually cramping up our budget, so can you please decide what you want to do,” she added.
MISCONDUCT ON SET IS SEEMINGLY ON THE RISE
In May 2026, actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku opened up about her former co-star, Bonko Khoza, sexually violating her during a scene of Red Ink.
This incident allegedly happened in September 2023; however, the meetings and email exchanges with the producers yielded no positive results.
Even the unions that were supposed to help her surprisingly invalidated her experience.
In response, Bonko released an official statement denying the allegations levelled against him.
“I will continue to defend my name, dignity, and reputation against unfounded accusations. I intend to fully exercise my legal rights, bringing this matter to a finality.”
