Should we believe that the Boston Celtics did not trade Jaylen Brown over money?

· Yahoo Sports

Winning basketball games, not money, is the reason why the Boston Celtics moved on from Jaylen Brown. Or at least that is the point of view of the folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel who put together a clip from their "Boston Has Entered the Chat" podcast that took a look at the rationale given for the controversial Brown trade to the Philadelphia 76ers by Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens.

Fans of the team appeared to be skeptical of the claim by Stevens and team majority owner Bill Chisholm to such an effect. But if you ignore the de facto hard cap the league's owners put in place in the last CBA, the penalties it carries for being an expensive team are indeed a serious team building obstacle.
