Tom Brady breaks internet with 2026 World Cup match, 28-3 comparison

For years, the New England Patriots' 28-3 comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons at Super Bowl LI has been widely considered the greatest comeback victory of all time.

It might have gotten some competition on Tuesday afternoon with Argentina overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the 78th minute of their 2026 World Cup Round of 16 matchup against Egypt. After being held scoreless for most of the day, Argentina star Lionel Messi helped lead the team to a 3-2 victory, advancing to the World Cup quarterfinals.

Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who spearheaded the Patriots' improbable comeback win against the Falcons over nine years ago, put Argentina's win over in the best way possible.

"Yeah so that might top 28-3," Brady posted on X.

Even more bizarre is the fact that the comeback happened at the Falcons' stadium, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Egypt was also wearing red and black, which were the same colors worn by the Falcons when they gave up the lead in the Super Bowl.

Some might argue that the Patriots' win was more impressive considering it happened in the Super Bowl, not a regular playoff game. Regardless, both were historic comebacks in their own right that can now be debated for years to come.
