Myles Garrett earns unanimous top spot in NFL edge rusher rankings
· Yahoo Sports
In a league defined by parity and fierce debate, there is absolute consensus on who rules the line of scrimmage, and he plays for the Los Angeles Rams now.
ESPN surveyed NFL executives, coaches, and scouts to rank the league's top edge rushers, and the result was a historic, clean sweep. At 30 years old, Myles Garrett locked down the No. 1 spot on every single ballot submitted, leaving no room for detractors after a season for the ages that included an NFL-record 23 sacks and an astonishing 33 tackles for loss.

Garrett, who previously played for the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Rams this offseason, now gives L.A. a true behemoth at the position just three seasons after Aaron Donald retired. And following years of incredible play, Garrett continues to get his flowers from peers around the league.
"He doesn't get enough credit for just how powerful he is and how you feel that up close," an NFL coordinator said. "Everyone talks about Aaron Donald's power, but Myles is just as strong."
That strength was constantly put to the test. Garrett won on more than 20% of his 448 pass-rushing attempts despite being double-teamed nearly 30% of the time, per ESPN. Offenses threw every conceivable protection scheme at him, yet he continually found ways to disrupt the game plan.
"He's seen every type of help an offense can give — slide to him, chips from tight ends and running backs, only run plays away from him — and he has a game plan or counter for all of it," another NFL coordinator noted. "From a mental standpoint, it's really impressive."
Backed by an intense offseason fitness routine, Garrett’s efficiency is remarkably precise. As an NFC executive added, "His ability to feel and navigate at the line without much wasted movement is elite."
The metrics further solidify his status as a historical great who delivers when it matters most. Of Garrett's 125.5 career sacks, 47 have come with his team trailing, marking the third most of any player since individual sacks became official in 1982, per ESPN. Furthermore, his recent eight-game streak with at least one sack tied for the third-longest all-time.
Securing the top spot for the second consecutive year, Garrett has proven that no matter how much attention he commands, he remains completely undeniable.
