Speculation had been swirling for weeks that the tennis legend could team up with the 23-year-old, while her sister, Venus, was also tipped to potentially join forces with Jannik Sinner.
Tennis journalist José Morgado hinted that Williams’ comment could signal that she and Alcaraz might share the court next month.
“Serena Williams clearly teasing a US Open mixed doubles partnership with Carlos Alcaraz,” he wrote on X.
Another fan backed Alcaraz and Williams to team up at Flushing Meadows ahead of the Grand Slam event.
“Yeah I’m almost certain they’re playing mixed at US Open,” they wrote.
