Dolphins training camp preview: TE group has some promise for 2026

The Miami Dolphins are wrapping up their month-long break since their organized team activities and minicamp sessions ended, as rookies will report to their Baptist Health Training Complex on Tuesday, July 21.

While some of Miami's position groups won't have much competition, others will be loaded with open opportunities that players will fight for throughout training camp.

Before camp starts, let's take a look at the tight end room and refamiliarize ourselves with the guys who will be battling it out for roster spots and snaps over the next month or so.

Greg Dulcich

Dulcich, 26, played at UCLA from 2018-21, earning All-Pac-12 honors twice. The Denver Broncos took him in the third round (No. 80 overall) of the 2022 NFL draft, and he spent 2.5 years with the team and finished up the 2024 season with the New York Giants. He originally signed with Miami's practice squad last year and received a one-year deal this offseason.

Career Stats: 31 games (13 starts), 67 receptions for 799 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Projected Role: Starter

Ben Sims

Sims, 26, played at Baylor from 2018-22 before the Minnesota Vikings signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2023. After failing to make the roster out of camp, he had a multi-year stint with the Green Bay Packers as primarily a blocking tight end and eventually returned to Minnesota last year.

Career Stats: 45 games (8 starts), 11 receptions for 93 yards and 1 touchdown.

Projected Role: TE2/depth

Will Kacmarek

Kacmarek, 23, played at Ohio from 2021-23 and transferred to Ohio State for 2024-25, where he won a national championship in his first season with the Buckeyes. Primarily a blocking tight end, Kacmarek did show some ability as a pass-catcher, which led the Dolphins to take him in the third round of this year's draft.

College Stats: 53 games (28 starts), 59 receptions for 713 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Projected Role: TE2/depth

Seydou Traore

Traore, 23, was born in France but was raised in London, England. He played at Arkansas State from 2021-22, earning All-Sun Belt honors once, and at Mississippi State from 2023-25. His pass-catching ability and athleticism led the Dolphins to take him in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL draft.

College Stats: 46 games, 126 receptions for 1,404 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Projected Role: Depth/Developmental

Cole Turner

Turner, 26, played at Nevada from 2018-21, earning All-Mountain West honors twice. The Washington Commanders took him in the fifth round (No. 149 overall) of the 2022 NFL draft. After three years in Washington, he spent one year with the Tennessee Titans and signed a reserve/futures contract with Miami this offseason.

Career Stats: 23 games (3 starts), 13 receptions for 143 yards.

Projected Role: Practice squad candidate
