Former NFL QB buries Tom Brady in prime all-time QB rankings

Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms isn't convinced that Tom Brady was the greatest of all time—at least in his prime.

The NBC Sports NFL analyst made headlines by burying the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback at No. 9 on his list. Brady's longtime rival, Peyton Manning, was ranked No. 1 on the list, with Patrick Mahomes coming in at No. 2 and Aaron Rodgers at No. 3.

The other quarterbacks ranked ahead of Brady are John Elway, Brett Favre, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Dan Marino. Simms fully expects to get major pushback for his rankings, but he tried to make sense of his placement for Brady.

"I know I'm probably going to get blowback for this right here, but Tom Brady did get afforded the luxury, especially in his prime and early years of, 'We're not asking you to carry the team. Belichick is going to come up with an unbelievable game plan. We're gonna run the ball, be physical, and then we just need you to be clutch at the end of the football game,'" Simms said. "He certainly had a few years that were awesome in his prime. I'm certainly not trying to downplay that. ...If you put him in some other situations, I don't know if it would have looked as pretty that way."

As Simms predicted, his Brady take did not go over well with NFL fans.

X was full of fans posting their disagreements with Brady's ranking on the list. Here were some of the best reactions from the social media site:
