Major League Soccer returns on Thursday night from its World Cup hiatus.

That includes a Canadian rivalry match as Toronto FC takes on CF Montreal.

Of course, the prevailing story in much of Canada on Thursday is the brutal air quality that is being caused by wildfires in northern Minnesota and across the Canadian border.

With winds blowing east, parts of Canada as well as much of the northeastern United States is being impacted.

Will Toronto and Montreal play their MLS game tonight?

The good news is that Montreal doesn't seem to be in the path of the wildfire smoke.

Toronto FC and CF Montreal are slated to play their match as scheduled.

Montreal weather, air quality update

If the match was in Toronto, this would be a different story.

But on the Canadian air quality scale on Thursday, it's just a 2 in Montreal, which is safe even for sensitive groups to be outside.

The Montreal Gazette does report that there could be afternoon thunderstorms, which could have a different kind of impact on a soccer match.

As far as the air quality, though, there's apparently nothing to worry about in Montreal.
