Best No. 58 in Steelers history: LB Jack Lambert
Another countdown to kickoff, another all-time great wearer from the Steel Curtain era. The best No. 58 wearer in Steelers history belongs to linebacker Jack Lambert.
Lambert, selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 1974 NFL Draft, played in Pittsburgh for 11 seasons (1974-1984). During his career, Lambert was a nine-time Pro Bowler, a six-time First-Team All-Pro, a two-time Second-Team All-Pro, the 1974 Defensive Rookie of the Year, and the 1976 Defensive Player of the Year.
Winning four Super Bowls with Pittsburgh, Lambert was also recognized as a member of the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, the 1980s All-Decade Team, the 75th Anniversary Team, and the 100th Anniversary Team. He also made the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team and was selected to the Steelers Hall of Honor. For his outstanding career, Lambert was inducted into the Pro Bowl Football Hall of Fame in 1990, further cementing his legacy as the greatest No. 58 in franchise history.
