Brewers change pitchers for Mets series; it's Freddy vs. Miz on Monday

The Milwaukee Brewers made a change to their pitching probables for the upcoming series against the New York Mets, pitting the team's 2026 ace against its 2025 ace.
With Freddy Peralta scheduled to pitch for New York on July 20 in the series opener, the Brewers will now send Jacob Misiorowski to oppose. It'll be Misiorowski's first outing since July 7 in St. Louis; he was slated to pitch again the final day before the all-star break but was eventually skipped with fatigue. He participated in all-star game festivities in Philadelphia but was not on the active roster for the game.

Peralta will be making his first appearance in Milwaukee since the offseason trade that shipped him to Queens. Peralta posted a 17-6 mark for the Brewers last year and a 2.70 ERA, his best season with the Brewers and a second all-star campaign. With one year remaining on his contract, the Brewers sent him and Tobias Myers to New York in exchange for starter Brandon Sproat and minor-league infielder Jett Williams.
Sproat was originally slated to pitch against Peralta, creating its own curiosity. But the club will turn instead to Misiorowski, who blossomed as a rookie last year on the same staff as Peralta.
Peralta has struggled this year with the Mets, posting a 5-8 record and 4.66 ERA in 20 starts, with a 1.438 WHIP. In the final months before he's scheduled to become a free agent, Peralta's name has popped up in trade rumors again, and the Brewers are one of the teams who could be in the market for a starting pitcher.
In eight years with the Brewers, Peralta won 211 games and posted a 3.59 ERA. He's the only player in franchise history to appear in six different postseasons, making three starts in the 2025 playoffs.
