Dodgers Announce Starters New For Phillies Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced their starters for their three-game road series against the Philadelphia Phillies beginning Monday.
The Dodgers are fresh off of a series win against the New York Yankees, during which they won the first two games. Their only loss in the three-game set came in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, which they lost 2-1.

LA last faced off against the Phillies in May, and won two of the three games at home. They outscored their opponents 16-7 across the three-game series, cruising to a 9-1 win in the rubber match May 31.

Emmet Sheehan will start the first game of the series for the Dodgers, moving back a day from his regularly scheduled start Monday. After inclement weather postponed Saturday’s game against the Yankees, the Dodgers moved Yoshinobu Yamamoto to start the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and pushed Sheehan back to Monday.
Sheehan had a rough few starts in June, posting a 6.00 ERA through 21 innings pitched, but bounced back in his two starts this month prior to the All-Star break. During those two outings, Sheehan threw 9.2 innings and allowed just four runs.
The Phillies will field All-Star starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez for the first game of the series.

Eric Lauer is the next starter for the Dodgers, and will look to continue his fantastic stretch of games since donning a Dodgers uniform. Lauer has dropped his ERA from 6.69 to 4.81 since coming to Los Angeles, posting a 3.12 ERA during his seven appearances with the team. The Dodgers are yet to lose a game in which he has pitched for them.
He will face right-hander Zack Wheeler, who is having yet another fantastic season for the Phillies. The All-Star has a 2.13 ERA this season, striking out 108 batters in 93 innings across his 15 starts.

In the third game of the series, the Dodgers will field their own All-Star on the mound: Justin Wrobleski. Wrobleski pitched two innings and struck out five in the All-Star Game, and will look to maintain his dominant form in Philadelphia.
The southpaw has been a pleasant surprise for the Dodgers this season, posting a 2.69 ERA through 16 appearances and cementing himself as a key player in the Dodgers’ rotation.
His opponent Wednesday will be Aaron Nola, who has a 5.68 ERA through 20 starts.
