One individual is blocking Rodri’s move to Real Madrid

The stance of one high-profile individual is the sole factor preventing La Liga giants Real Madrid from bringing Manchester City star Rodri back to his home country this summer.
That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who highlights Florentino Pérez as the individual in question.
Midfielder Rodri is for his part of course fresh off being named Player of the Tournament, after guiding Spain to glory at the 2026 World Cup.
The 30-year-old’s spectacular form along the way has given rise to fresh links with the aforementioned Real Madrid, amid the understanding that Los Blancos are open to the prospect of bringing in reinforcements in the middle of the park this summer.
Not only that, but Rodri himself ‘dreams’ of pulling on the colours of Los Blancos.
So, what’s the problem?
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has early this week revealed precisely as much. Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Romano explained:
”At the moment, the story between Real Madrid and Rodri is cold because of the president. Florentino Pérez is not convinced about proceeding (with a move) for Rodri.”
