Miles Bridges Addresses Phoenix Fans’ Post-Trade Reactions
During Wednesday’s press conference, Bridges reflected on being traded by the Charlotte Hornets and acknowledged his troubled past, which caused concern among the Suns’ fan base.
Bridges, who pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in 2022, noted that he understands the prevailing fan sentiment. The 28-year-old pledged that he is a changed man, having reformed his behavior through counseling.
“It’s mixed feelings about me being here,” Bridges said. “But I take full responsibility of my actions. I’ve been to counseling, I’ve been to therapy. Right now, I’m prioritizing just being better as a man every day, on and off the court. Mainly off the court.”
The 6-foot-7 ex-Michigan State standout appears to be in good hands with the Suns, given his ties to general manager Brian Gregory, who consulted with the Spartans when Bridges was a freshman.
Phoenix head coach Jordan Ott also served as a video coordinator at Michigan State from 2008 to 2013, and team owner Mat Ishbia played for the Spartans in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Gregory voiced support for the forward, noting that he has grown since his arrest. The Suns organization expressed confidence in bringing in Bridges despite his past legal issues. The general manager, however, admitted that the seven-year veteran would have to work to earn the trust of Phoenix’s fans.
“Those questions are part of his story,” Gregory said. “He’s dealt with them before, and he’ll deal with them today as well. I think those questions we are aware of and knew about, and that’s why we took this decision so seriously.”
The Suns acquired Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick from Charlotte in exchange for guard Grayson Allen, forward Royce O’Neale, and a 2033 first-round pick.
In the 2025-26 season, Bridges averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for the Hornets, who reached the play-in tournament but fell just short of the NBA playoffs.
He will team up with five-time All-Star Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, and Mark Williams as Phoenix aims to improve on its surprise 45-win season and first-round playoff appearance after trading superstar forward Kevin Durant last offseason.
