The entire LeBron James process has been a whirlwind, leaving many people in the dark due to the lack of information coming from the four-time NBA champion. James wanted to make this decision on his own terms and, most importantly, on his own timeline.

Throughout the process, James eventually revealed what he was looking for in his next team. He wanted to join an organization that embodied championship habits.

“What's most important is that I want to compete. I want to compete at a high level. I want to join a franchise that shares the same model as myself. That's like practicing championship habits every day,” James said.

After nearly an entire month of evaluating his options and going through his thought process, James decided to join an intriguing Philadelphia 76ers roster featuring Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe.

“LeBron James is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers for his final run at another NBA championship, he announced Friday,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin wrote. “James, 41, is signing a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul told ESPN's Shams Charania.”

Now that James is off the board, the rest of the NBA free agents can decide where they want to continue their careers. However, the four-time NBA champion revealed that he thought his career was over after playing his final game with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I thought I was done when the season ended. I wasn't ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if I still love,” James posted.

The 76ers landed the biggest name of the summer and are as excited as anyone. Their starting five could be the best in the league, but the team’s depth still needs improvement. Throughout his career, James has excelled when paired with younger players he can mentor and help develop.

Philadelphia was not even considered a serious contender at the start of free agency, but Boston’s decision to send Jaylen Brown to the 76ers changed everything. The next two years of James’ career in Philadelphia should be fascinating to watch.
