Ravens cut two players to make room for Chris Moore, Hakeem Adeniji

The Baltimore Ravens released punter Luke Elzinga and guard Jared Penning to create roster spots for wide receiver Chris Moore and offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji, exchanging two developmental players for veterans with established NFL experience.
Elzinga’s departure leaves rookie Ryan Eckley as the only punter on Baltimore’s roster. The Ravens signed Elzinga as an undrafted free agent after he spent six college seasons at Central Michigan and Oklahoma. He was expected to compete with Eckley during training camp, but Baltimore ended that battle before the start of full practices.

Eckley, a seventh-round pick out of Michigan State, averaged an FBS-leading 48.5 yards per punt in 2025. The Ravens could add another punter later in camp, but releasing Elzinga gives Eckley an uncontested opportunity to replace the veteran All-Pro who departed for the New York Giants.
Penning’s release was connected directly to Adeniji’s arrival. The undrafted guard out of Northern Iowa faced a difficult path in a crowded offensive line competition featuring rookie first-round pick Olaivavega Ioane, John Simpson, Andrew Vorhees and several reserve candidates.

Adeniji gives Baltimore a more experienced and versatile option. The 28-year-old has appeared in 55 games and made 16 starts since Cincinnati selected him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft. He has experience at guard and tackle and appeared in 12 games with one start for Dallas last season. NFL statistics confirm that 15 of his starts came during three seasons with Cincinnati.
Moore returns to the organization that selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. He spent five seasons with Baltimore before playing for Houston, Tennessee, Arizona and Washington. The 33-year-old has 149 career receptions for 1,917 yards and offers additional value on special teams.
Neither veteran is guaranteed a roster spot. Moore must compete in a young receiver room, while Adeniji joins a fluid offensive line battle. Both additions, however, give the Ravens experienced options as training camp begins.
