Pat Surtain isn’t the top-rated cornerback in ‘Madden 27’

· Yahoo Sports

Not only was Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain not named to Madden NFL 27's "99 Club," he wasn't even named the best cornerback in the video game.

New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzales jumped Surtain after rising three spots to a 98 overall rating since Madden 26, while Surtain remained at a 97 overall. Surtain lost hold of the top spot he had in last year's game, and he's now one point behind Gonzales. Surtain did miss several games during the 2025 season due to a pectoral injury, which could have been used to dock him points and deny him a place in the "99 Club."

In other positions, both Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles and guard Quinn Meinerz were the third- and seventh-highest rated offensive linemen, respectively, in the game. Denver's offensive line as a whole has been widely regarded as the best line in the NFL, while Bolles and Meinerz are consistently among the best individual linemen in the game. Both Bolles and Meinerz were nominated for the league's newest award, Protector of the Year, in 2025, but neither won the award.

In other news, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto also ranked among the top 10 pass-rushers in the game, after recording 14 sacks last season. He will lead the Broncos' force of a pass rush to try and break the NFL sack record in the 2026 season.

Full rankings will come out later this week. Madden 27 will be released on Aug. 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
