  • Minkah Fitzpatrick, 2019-2024

Best No. 39 in Steelers history: S Minkah Fitzpatrick

The greatest No. 39 in franchise history is former Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick, drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, was traded to Pittsburgh in 2019, where he'd emerge as one of the league's top safeties.

From 2019 to 2024, Fitzpatrick appeared in 88 games for Pittsburgh, including 88 starts, recording 18 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns, and 516 combined touchdowns. During his Steelers career, Fitzpatrick was named to five Pro Bowls, and earned three First-Team All-Pros honors.

Fitzpatrick was traded once more to the Dolphins in 2025, only to traded yet again to the New York Jets in 2026, where he'll look to return to his playmaking self at 29 years old.
