Summary: I feel like Blake should be allowed at least one “Ruffin the passer” penalty a year at no cost to the team, its really the only proper thing to do, but I’m sure the ACC will find a way to blow thisas well.
Ruffin was a hometown kid helping the Trinity program capture a couple championships before heading out to Eastern Illinois and making life in the OVC look easy, beating up on teams weekly and putting up some nice numbers. Ruffin came back to Louisville but lost 2024 due to injury. In 2025 he was a special teams staple and played a good 50-60 snaps on defense last year at both corner and safety. The veteran is playing his fifth season of college football, but has been living the campus life for six years. Six years in college doesn’t just produce a lot of doctors, but also some well rounded experienced guys on a football team. I think Blake is again a captain for the special teams units but also seeing more reps in a secondary looking to step up and meet the expectations set by the defensive line and linebacker units this coming year. Glad to see the local athlete come back home and make a name for himself here at Louisville. Now excuse me while I email Jim Phillips about my “Ruffin the passer” proposal.
