Training Report: Bayern Munich injured stars almost ready; World Cup contingent out a little longer; and MORE!

It has been a busy few days for Bayern Munich when it comes to personnel news.

News that emerged on Sunday from Säbener Straße indicated that Bayern Munich stars Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala could be back in team training this week (per Bild via @iMiaSanMia):

Among the players currently recovering from injury, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala are the most advanced in their rehab. Both are expected back in team training at the beginning of the coming week [@BILD]

In addition, Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano are getting more time off and will not be fully back in action until next week:

Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano have been given more vacation time and won’t return to Munich until the end of the coming week. Following performance tests, they likely won’t fully rejoin team training until the Supercup week [@BILD]

On Monday, Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau checked in to verify that Kane, Olise, and Upamecano were not at the session, but also that several of the club’s injured players joined the full squad for warm-ups:

FC Bayern continues its preparations at Säbener Straße – still without Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano, but with Jamal Musiala, Ismael Saibari, Alphonso Davies, Lennart Karl, and Serge Gnabry, who are at least joining in for the warm-up. @SkySportDE

The transfer candidates Sacha Boey and João Palhinha are continuing to train with the team. Bryan Zaragoza is still in the build-up training phase and has completed an individual session. @SkySportDE

Context with the injured players is key. FC Bayern.com noted that several injured players “joined” team training, but Hau noted that the players only joined for the warm-ups. Some, but not all, of the players continued on and completed the session:

Preseason enters the home stretch! FC Bayern held their first training session since the Audi Summer Tour on Monday, with new signing Ismael Saibari as well as Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies, who didn’t travel to Jeju and Hong Kong due to injuries and fitness, all joining the group for the first time at Säbener Straße.

Hau checked back in to detail what Kimmich and Gnabry did on the day:

Neither Kimmich nor Gnabry are yet ready for full team training. Both skipped physical duels in game formats on Monday – and instead completed progressive runs and ball exercises on the adjacent pitch. Gradual build-up. @SkySportDE

With two friendlies remaining (RB Leipzig on August 15th, Heidenheim on August 18th), Bayern Munich will seek to fully shake off all the rust before facing Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on August 22nd.
