Kaizer Chiefs have two injury concerns ahead of their midweek fixture against Sekhukhune United.

Amakhosi suffered a 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Sunday, with Fernando Da Cruz’s side missing Ethan Chislett and striker Flavio Silva.

The duo featured in Chiefs’ opening 3-1 win over Kruger United, but neither was involved against Arrows.

Speaking after the defeat, Da Cruz revealed that Silva picked up an injury during training on Saturday, just a day before the match.

“First thing, [Flavio] Silva got hurt yesterday [Saturday] at training, matchday minus one,” he said.

“So, we have three games in six days, and we prefer to be careful with him – the same thing for [Ethan] Chislett also.”

Chiefs an injury concern

The Chiefs coach also explained why other attacking players, including Asanele Velebayi and Pule Mmodi, were not introduced against Arrows.

“For players like [Asanele] Velebayi and Pule Mmodi, it’s our choice [to not include them in Sunday’s game], but also we have three games in six days.

“So, we will need the whole squad for these three games because it will be a tough week for us.

“We also missed other players who are injured.

“They are in rehabilitation and periodisation, but it’s interesting for the players who are available at the moment, and they would come back step by step.”

Chiefs are also without Paseka Mako, Nkhanyiso Shinga and Khanyisa Mayo, who are currently recovering from injuries.

There is, however, positive news on Bradley Cross, who picked up an injury during pre-season and has now returned to full fitness.

Chiefs will be hoping to have Silva and Chislett available when they face Sekhukhune as they look to bounce back from their MTN8 disappointment.
