Kevin Durant is returning to where it all started.
The former University of Texas star is set to return to Austin for a marquee matchup as the Houston Rockets take on the San Antonio Spurs in the state's capital. The Rockets and Spurs will play in UT's Moody Center on October 23rd, with tip-off at 9:30 PM ET in a nationally televised game as part of the NBA's opening week.

This will be the fourth year that the league has hosted games at the Moody Center. Since 2023, San Antonio has hosted two games every season in Austin, but this will be the first time another NBA franchise based in Texas has been involved.
The matchup will be designated as a home game for the Spurs, but it could feel more like an away game given Kevin Durant's ties to the area. In what will likely be one of their toughest games of the season, that could be a huge benefit for the Rockets.
