Red Sox To 'Talk Through' Bringing Roman Anthony From Fort Myers Back To Boston

Roman Anthony has been out since early May with a ligament tear below his right ring finger.
In recent weeks, he has started swinging the bat again and has progressed to hitting off the Trajekt machine. He is reportedly getting closer to a rehab assignment, and the team is "going to talk through" bringing him back to Boston, per The Boston Globe's Tim Healey.

"Anthony also is nearing a rehab assignment, so a geographic return makes sense before he joins Worcester or Portland," Healey wrote on X.
Things are a lot different now for the Red Sox than when Anthony was last with the team. The team was struggling back then and was not looking like contenders. However, they have since then ripped off a 15-game winning streak and a nine-game winning streak. They are in position to make the postseason, and Anthony looks more like a missing piece than a reason for fans to simply look forward to next year.
Anthony was not playing well before his injury, but what he did last season and in the World Baseball Classic is enough reason to believe he can be a massive upgrade to the lineup. Even if he plays like he was before the injury, he would be an upgrade over Jarren Duran.
Anthony had a .859 OPS in 71 games last season. He had a .920 OPS in the World Baseball Classic and was named to the All-WBC Tournament Team. Getting him back in Boston with the team would be a huge step toward getting him back in the lineup.
