Nets' Mikel Brown Jr. rates 7th among rookies in NBA 2K27 video game

Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr. got his first taste of NBA action this summer when he played with the Nets in the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League. Brooklyn saw what Brown was capable of and what he needs to improve on before next season comes around, but before that happens, there is one company who views Brown in high regard.
In a recent post on X, NBA 2K, the company that makes the famous basketball games on a yearly basis, put out its ratings for the top-10 rookies heading into the 202627 NBA season. Brown was rated (74) as the seventh-best player in the class, behind Washington Wizards forward AJ Dybantsa, Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson, Memphis Grizzlies forward Cameron Boozer, Chicago Bulls forward Caleb Wilson, Los Angeles Clippers guard Keaton Wagler, and Sacramento Kings guard Darius Acuff Jr.

Brown is tied with Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings with a 74 rating while also rating ahead of Dallas Mavericks forward Morez Johnson Jr. and Milwaukee Bucks guard Braydon Burries. To provide some context on what this means for Brown heading into next season, BetMGM recently put out its odds for the Rookie of the Year award and he had the seventh-best odds of winning the accolade.
Brown, 20, is coming off a solid summer circuit in which he averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 38.8% from the field and 34.6% from behind the three-point line. Brown has had some interesting moments over the course of the summer, but next season will show how ready he is to be an NBA-level point guard for head coach Jordi Fernandez.
With each passing day, the beginning of next season gets closer and once training camp comes around towards the end of September, Brown will have his chance to prove what he can do against the rest of his NBA teammates. Before camp happens, Brown will have to reflect on where he can improve, but as of now, NBA 2K believes that he is one of the better players in his class.
