Delhi Rains: Sadar Bazaar, Other Parts Of National Capital Flooded As NCR Lashed With Heavy Downpour - VIDEO

New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday morning, bringing relief from heat and humidity, disrupting traffic movement and leaving several roads submerged. Visuals from Sadar Bazaar showed waist-deep waterlogging, while clips shared on social media showed shops flooded with rainwater, with most shutters closed. Sadar Bazaar is one of India’s largest wholesale markets.

Similarly, heavy waterlogging was witnessed on Shani Bazaar Road in Sangam Vihar after just a few minutes of rain.

Visuals showed students wading through a severely waterlogged street in the Sangam Vihar area.

Visuals of rainwater getting accumulated in a parking lot in Connaught Place have also surfaced.

Flights diverted from Delhi

Keeping in view the adverse weather conditions, a total of 14 flights have been diverted from Delhi Airport. Major airlines, including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet, issued travel advisories on Monday, warning passengers of possible flight delays and disruptions.

"Adverse weather conditions may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. To ensure a smooth travel experience, we encourage our passengers to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport," the airlines said on X.

"Bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly," IndiGo posted.

With Monday’s rain, the total rainfall recorded in Delhi so far this month stands at 246.3 mm, around 13 mm higher than the IMD’s long-period average (LPA) rainfall of 233.1 mm for August.

In 2025, Delhi recorded a significant rain surplus, with 400.81 mm of precipitation between August 1 and 31. The city had crossed its August LPA on August 15, after 11 days of rain.
