New York Giants Trading Former Third-Round Pick to Chiefs

The New York Giants have made a trade, sending former third-round pick Josh Ezeudu to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2028 seventh-round pick.

Ezeudu appeared in 33 games for the Giants, starting in 10 after they selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a potential cut and on the roster bubble for New York, so getting a late draft pick for him from the Chiefs is still great value.
The Giants' starting offensive line will likely be Andrew Thomas, Jon Runyan, John Michael Schmitz Jr., Francis Mauigoa, and Jermaine Eluemunor. It's a solid unit, and with John Harbaugh taking over as the head coach, New York has a chance to be more competitive in the 2026 season.
The Giants went 4-13 in the 2025 season, but with Harbaugh's track record, they are poised to finish with a better record. During his 18 years with the Baltimore Ravens, he finished with a 180-113 record, including a Super Bowl win.
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters ConnectNew York has a lot of hope with Harbaugh as their coach, a great defensive line, and some young talent. The defensive line includes Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Arvell Reese.
Burns is coming off an unreal season, as he recorded 67 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, seven pass deflections, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
Carter had a solid rookie season off the edge, finishing with 43 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Thibodeaux and Reese will also be impactful pass rushers for the Giants. On offense, New York will have Jaxson Dart entering his second year in the league with the weapons of Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers.
All three of those pieces have shown a ton of talent when on the field, but have missed time due to injuries. If they can stay healthy in 2026, the Giants could make a push toward the playoffs.
While Ezeudu didn't work out during his tenure with New York, they are yielding a late draft pick in 2028 rather than having to release him for nothing.
