Sky Ban Enes Kanter Freedom from Arena Over “Potential Threat” After Courtside Clash with Natasha Cloud
· Yahoo Sports
Sunday’s Chicago Sky game against the Indiana Fever was supposed to be about basketball. Instead, Caitlin Clark’s 37 points sealed a 113-90 win that snapped Chicago’s three-game streak, while Natasha Cloud posted 16 points and seven assists in the loss. The real headline came from courtside, where former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom sat in a provocative T-shirt. By Tuesday, the fallout had escalated.

Enes Kanter Banned From Wintrust Arena After Natasha Cloud Clash
Kanter Freedom attended Sunday’s game wearing a black T-shirt reading “WOMAN noun. adult human female,” a pointed jab tied to his declared intent to enter the 2027 WNBA draft. Sitting courtside, he began exchanging words with Cloud during the third quarter.
Sky owner Michael Alter later said witnesses seated near Kanter Freedom confirmed he started the exchange, describing it as trash talk meant to provoke the veteran guard.

Security moved in immediately and escorted him out of Wintrust Arena. Two days later, Alter confirmed during a Tuesday press conference that the ban would stand indefinitely.
“He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat,” Alter told reporters.
He added that Kanter Freedom will not be welcomed back unless he can prove he’ll follow arena rules going forward.

Reports also indicate Kanter Freedom never received an official invitation. His ticket was purchased under another name, and his agent notified Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca of his attendance only hours before tip-off.
Enes Kanter Freedom Fires Back Amid Sky Fallout
Kanter Freedom did not stay quiet after his ejection. He has since accused the Sky’s general manager of lying about how his appearance at the game came together, disputing Alter’s version of the ticket purchase and the text exchange with Pagliocca.

Reaction from players, fans and league observers has split sharply along those same lines, with some backing his stance and others calling it a publicity stunt.
What happens next for his eligibility push remains an open question.
For now, Kanter Freedom remains barred from Wintrust Arena with no timetable for reinstatement. The Sky, already eliminated from playoff contention, next host the New York Liberty, while the debate over Kanter Freedom’s WNBA draft ambitions keeps building heading into September.
