Peru, Saranac Lake open golf seasons with wins

PERU — Peru and Saranac Lake picked up with where they left off with victories kicking off the Section VII golf season.
The CVAC, which competes now in the fall, began with non-league matches as the Nighthawks defeating NCCS followed up with Saranac Lake taking down Peru.

Cooper Sweeney, the defending Section VII champion, won the opening match over Greyson Lafountain, 35-43. He was the medalist for the day.
The No. 2 match between Peru’s Partrick Clark and NCCS’ Seth Rabideau was halved at 41.
The Nighthawks got the win with Riley Zelinski and Paxton Akin won the No. 3 or No. 4 matches, respectively.
The Cougars’ Brody Rabideau and Ty Breyette won the No. 5 and No. 6 matches to finalize the score.

Sweeney continued his strong play against Ryan McGinnis-Theis, medaling and winning the No. 1 match, 26-40.
Patrick Clark won his match as well, picking up his first win of th year, with a 38-42 victory over Jonah Peckam.
Saranac Lake grabbed three points to win the match with Ryde Harrison, David Rasocoe and Cooper Barry, winning the No. 3 — No. 5 matches, respectively.
The No. 6 match was halved with Peru’s Cooper Kingsley-Ryan and Kameron Dumont of Saranac Lake finishing at 54.
