A flurry of three goals helps Minnesota United to 3-3 draw

An outburst of three goals in a five-minute span produced bedlam at Allianz Field on Saturday, but that elation ended in a familiar bummer feeling in St. Paul.

Orlando City led 2-0 before Minnesota United’s trio of Marcus Caldeira, Anthony Markanich and Kelvin Yeboah each scored from the 71st to the 76th minutes of a wild 3-3 draw.
Minnesota was on the verge of consecutive wins for the first time since April, but Tyrese Spicer scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute. The Orlando winger took a through ball from French star Antoine Greizmann, outraced Jefferson Diaz and beat Alec Smir.
MNUFC (7-8-7, 29 points) still hasn’t won at home since April. The Loons and and Orlando (7-12-3, 25 points) each gained a point in their razor-thin races for respective MLS Cup Playoff spots.
Yeboah’s go-ahead goal came on a scissor kick with less than 15 minutes to play and the St. Paul stadium erupted. It was the striker’s third goal over the last two games.
In the first half Saturday, the Loons conceded a goal on Orlando’s only shot and trailed 1-0.
Daryl Dike, who returned to MLS from England side West Bromwich Albion this summer, collided with Loons goalkeeper Drake Callender and Jefferson Diaz but stayed on the ball and scored from a tight angle in the 28th minute.
Callender was hurt on the play and needed medical attention for several minutes as fans booed referee Allen Chapman over not stopping the match. Callender was taken off as a concussion substitute at halftime with backup Smir going in.
Greizmann easily scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute. The fireworks were just starting.
