Reserve keeper Alex Meyer has been confirmed in the starting XI, allowing first-choice goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to sit this one out. The choice carries extra significance for Meyer, who hails from the Hamburg region and is returning to familiar surroundings.
Even so, Dortmund’s options are stretched by several key absences in the treatment room. Marquee summer addition Giannis Konstantelias is ruled out for an extended period after tearing his ACL on his debut last weekend.
