Don't Worry, The Witcher 3 Saves Will Work With The Game's Remastered Upgrade — And There's Word on Achievements/Trophies, Too

The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt has confirmed you'll be able to use your existing save files with the game's generous upcoming Remastered edition — and provided detail on Achievements and Trophies, too.
Writing today via a post on X/Twitter, the studio said it had seen a number of fan questions over the game's forthcoming new edition, which will be awarded to existing owners of the game. This is even the case for Nintendo Switch owners upgrading to a copy of Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2, and free on all platforms.

"Good news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can get back on the Path right where you left off," CD Projekt wrote. This is great news for lapsed fans who still haven't seen everything The Witcher 3 has to offer (and there is a lot on offer).
And, of course, it's worth remembering that the base game now includes access to its two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. You'll want to play both of those before the RPG's belated third expansion, Songs of the Past, launches in 2027.
There's more good news for achievement (and trophy) hunters, as progress toward any award unlocked so far will be tracked and continued in the game's Remastered edition. This is perhaps less of a surprise, if the upgraded game is treated simply as an update on supported platforms. Still, it's nice to have confirmed.
CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 3 Remastered last week with a long list of additional features and technical improvements set to be included, such as the long-awaited cross-platform mod support, new quest tracking, immersive meditation, refined animations, UI improvements, a looting rework, and much, much more. Launching on September 29, the game's Remastered version will soon become its default offering, although there's also been a slight increase in price (presumably to reflect the fact that its expansions are now included).
