Tuesday’s PowerBall results are officially in, and plenty of players were checking their tickets closely to see if the night belonged to them. With the numbers now confirmed, here’s exactly what happened at the draw, and what it means heading into Friday.

The winning PowerBall numbers drawn on Tuesday, 1 September were 14, 16, 31, 34 and 40, with a PowerBall number of 04.
For PowerBall Xtra, the numbers were 04, 18, 31, 34 and 40, with a PowerBall Xtra number of 10.
Tuesday’s PowerBall results in full
No player matched all five main numbers plus the PowerBall, so the jackpot rolls over to Friday’s draw.
No one claimed the second division prize either, but that doesn’t mean the night was a total washout for everyone who played.
What the PowerBall results mean for thousands of winners
Across all divisions, more than 137,000 players matched at least some of the winning PowerBall numbers and walked away with a prize.
The total prize pool for the draw came to just over R4.6 million, spread across those winners.
The biggest share of winners, nearly 74,000 players, matched only the PowerBall number and took home R10.00 each.
It’s a small amount individually, but it adds up to a significant payout once you count every ticket that matched.
What this means heading into Friday
With no jackpot winner, the prize will grow again for Friday’s draw, though Sizekhaya, the National Lottery operator since 1 June, has not yet confirmed the exact rollover figure.
Players will need to wait for the official announcement closer to draw time.
I always find it interesting how a “no winner” night can still put real money into tens of thousands of pockets across the country. It’s a reminder that the smaller wins matter too, even when the headline prize stays frustratingly out of reach.
