A $50,000 reward is being offered for information to help solve the murder of a teen boy in Wabaseemoong First Nation close to five years ago.

Ontario Provincial Police said on Dec. 11, 2021, at around 3:25 a.m., Treaty Three Police Service and emergency medical services responded to a call about an injured person at a home on Main St. E. in Wabaseemoong First Nation, a Northwestern Ontario community in Kenora District near the Manitoba border.
Trent Hunter, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the OPP was called to assist in the investigation.
“Trent’s family deserves answers. We hope this reward encourages those with information to do the right thing and come forward with information. Even the smallest detail could be the piece investigators need to move this case forward,” Det.-Insp. Ryan Gordon, of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, said in a press release.
Police said the teen’s murder is among the missing and murdered Indigenous Peoples cases being investigated by the OPP.

Man accused of harassing girls in Keswick
An 80-year-old man faces criminal harassment charges after he allegedly made inappropriate comments to multiple groups of girls in Keswick.
York Regional Police claim between Aug. 10 and Sept. 1, a man approached groups of young girls and “made inappropriate verbal comments, including sexual remarks about their appearance.”
Police allege in one incident that the man followed the youths to their homes and remained outside.
Police said Charles Blair, of Georgina, has been charged with six counts of criminal harassment.
A photo of the accused has been released by police as they are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.
Police said Blair was seen driving in a white Lincoln sport utility vehicle.

Toronto man charged with hate-motivated offences
A man has been charged with hate-motivated offences after allegedly assaulting two people in two separate incidents downtown on Saturday.
Toronto Police say the first incident happened in the Queens Quay W.-Lower Spadina Ave. area, where the man allegedly approached the victim and a witness during an unprovoked interaction, made “anti-Sikh utterances and racial slurs,” and attacked the victim with a knife.
Police said the victim was stabbed in the leg and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said investigators later determined that the same suspect was allegedly involved in a separate incident that happened about an hour earlier in the Union Station area.
The man also allegedly made “anti-Sikh utterances and racial slurs” to a person and waved a knife at them.
Police said the victim was not injured.
Lakshitha Arakmullage, 32, is facing several charges, including five counts of offence motivated by hatred, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Two arrested in Brampton shooting
A man and a teenage boy have been charged with attempted murder in a Brampton shooting last fall.
Peel Regional Police say on Oct. 19, 2025, at around 10:40 p.m., officers were called to the Dawnridge Tr.-Clifton Ct. area, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said he was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cops said Lavontae Bowleg, 19, of Sudbury, and a boy from Oshawa who was 17 at the time of the shooting, were arrested last month.
The two each face numerous charges, including aggravated assault, attempted murder using a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, and discharge of a firearm with intent.

Man accused in Yorkville break-ins
Police are seeking a man who allegedly broke into two Yorkville homes last week.
Toronto Police said on Sat., Aug. 29, officers were called to the Bay St.-Charles St. W. area, where a man allegedly broke into a residence two days earlier, stealing jewelry and several bank cards.
Police said shortly after, the same man broke into another residence in the same area and “was startled by the homeowner,” fleeing the scene.
Police said on Aug. 28, the man committed several fraudulent transactions on the victim’s credit card.
Eliot Kasongo, 34, of Milton, is wanted for breaking-and-entering, breaking and entering into a dwelling house with intent, unauthorized use of credit card data, and breach of probation.
Police describe him as 6-foot-2, with tattoos on his face, neck and both arms.
