It’s your favorite time of year! You know, when I let you know why Nebraska is going to dominate on Saturday in an insanely accurate way. I mean, I was 7-6 last year that’s over 50%, it’s really not bad. Majority rules, right?

Saturday is the start of a beautiful season! It’s going to be a toasty start and the Huskers are going to be on fire and swiftly take down the Bobcats.
These are your reasons why.
#1 FRANK SOLICH
We all know that the Frank Solich curse has been hanging around this football program for more than 30 years, but that ends on Saturday. Frank Solich is being honored by the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame receiving the Legends Award. He will also be an honorary coin toss participant, in a game against his old school. It’s really the perfect trifecta to break a curse- receiving an honor, Nebraska vs. Ohio, and a coin toss participant. We should’ve considered this years ago!
#2 ANTHONY COLANDREA AND THE HUSKER RECEIVING CORPS
The new quarterback in town is ready to put on a show for Husker fans. Colandrea was the Mountain West Player of the Year in 2025 and ranked 5th in total offense and 16th overall in passing yards. Pairing Colandrea up with Nyziah Hunter and Jacory Barney Jr. is going to be magic.
#3 TURNOVERS
Nebraska is ready to pick up where it left off building on taking care of the football. The Huskers ended the season ranked 11th nationally in turnovers lost after being ranked 132nd in 2023.
They are going to start the season off strong not only taking care of the ball, but also starting off with a couple take aways of their own. Nebraska newbie Dwayne McDougle III recorded four interceptions last season with San Diego State and he is ready to pick up where he left off.
#4 OHIO IS REBUILDING
This is the first year for Ohio head coach, John Hauser and that comes with a lot of unknowns. While Hauser has been with Ohio for five years, serving as their defensive coordinator, he hasn’t had head coach experience and that will come with lots of growing pains.
Aside from the change of coach, Ohio also had a lot of turnover on their roster. They lost their starting quarterback, top two rushers, and top four receivers. There will be some bumps in the road as this new group comes together in a loud Memorial Stadium.
#5 OPENING GAME AT MEMORIAL STADIUM
Since 2000, Nebraska has only lost two opening games at Memorial Stadium and those were both the first games under coaches who shall not be named.
The fans are ready. It’s going to be loud. It’s going to be hot. The Huskers are going to roll.
