Cubs outfielder uses expletive toward Brewers pitcher after striking out

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ was clearly frustrated during an MLB game earlier this week, a matchup against the division rival Milwaukee Brewers. He did not exactly hide his feelings after striking out against Logan Henderson.

Happ appeared to direct an expletive toward Henderson after the strikeout, providing one of the more heated moments from the Cubs’ series against the NL Central-leading Brewers. The exchange was caught on video and quickly made the rounds on social media.

Happ loses his cool after strikeout

Happ faced Henderson three times during Thursday’s game and went hitless, striking out twice. Happ entered the matchup with only two career strikeouts against Henderson, making Thursday’s game a particularly rough one for the Cubs veteran.

Happ’s reaction came after Henderson won their matchup with a swinging strike three.

The Brewers right-hander has been one of Milwaukee’s biggest pitching success stories, and his performance against Happ added another chapter to their growing head-to-head matchup.

Henderson continues to give Cubs hitters problems

There is plenty of reason for Happ and the Cubs to be frustrated with Henderson.

The 24-year-old right-hander has established himself as a legitimate weapon for Milwaukee. Henderson entered Thursday’s game with a 2.32 ERA and 126 strikeouts over 108.2 innings this season.

Henderson also dominated Happ in their matchup. Across three plate appearances Thursday, Happ went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Of course, moments like this are part of baseball. Happ was frustrated, Henderson got the better of him, and emotions boiled over for a few seconds.

But considering the Cubs and Brewers are battling within the NL Central, there is certainly no love lost between these two teams. And Happ’s reaction made that pretty clear.
