Ohio State football's next two opponents had opposite Week 1 results

Ohio State football did what they needed to do in their 56-3 blowout of Ball State at Ohio Stadium on Saturday, and now their eyes are on two contrasting matchups. Their next two opponents, the University of Texas and Kent State, both had wildly contrasting results in their Week 1 matchups.

The Texas Longhorns looked every bit a strong contender for the national title. Quarterback Arch Manning completed 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception before his backup KJ Lacey came in to replace him. Manning threw two touchdowns to Cam Coleman and also connected once in the end zone with Ryan Wingo.

The performance sets up what will be one of the biggest matchups in the entire college football season next week when both top-5 teams square off in Austin, TX.

Kent State had quite the opposite experience in their opening matchup of the season. The Golden Flashes were shut out and were only able to get 179 yards total in a 57-0 defeat to South Carolina. South Carolina was able to impose their will offensively by piling up 645 yards and averaging almost 9.0 yards per snap.

For Ohio State, Texas will provide a true matchup against one of the most vaunted offenses in the league in week 2. The Kent State matchup in week 3 will potentially offer the Buckeyes an opportunity to regroup before the Big Ten season officially starts.
