Raiders land top edge rusher in latest 2027 NFL mock draft

The Las Vegas Raiders have much to look forward to in the 2027 NFL Draft class despite the event being a long ways away. The Raiders have the potential to have a surprise season in 2026, but are expected to garner a top 10 pick in the first round of the draft next year, which will likely position them to select a franchise pillar with the pick that they receive.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department had Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons going to the Raiders with the No. 6 overall pick in their 2027 NFL mock draft.

”The Las Vegas Raiders were this close to trading Maxx Crosby this offseason,” the B/R Scouting Dept. said. “With or without Crosby next year, the lineup could still use another pass-rush threat to improve the entire defensive front. Texas' Colin Simmons is super-productive and difficult to handle working off the edge.”

The Raiders stand to gain from selecting a talented edge rusher who has the potential to be a foundational piece for them for upwards of a decade. While Patrick Johnson is an encouraging veteran on the team behind Kwity Paye and Keyron Crawford remains as a the young edge rusher that the team hopes will develop into a starting caliber player opposite Crosby, there’s no telling if either will raise their level of play to elite status, or if Crosby will stay in Las Vegas for the long term, making Simmons a player for the team to have on the radar for next year.
