The Denver Nuggets have been able to put bits and pieces of their roster together for this upcoming season after having a hard time financially. There is very little the team could do, and they also had to let go of one of their best young players in Peyton Watson.

Denver still has its main core with Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokic, and Jamal Murray. However, its historic financial situation has put the team in a bad spot.
“The Denver Nuggets were in a tough financial position before the offseason got underway, and by re-signing Spencer Jones to a two-year, $12 million deal, they slid into the second apron with a projected luxury tax penalty of $68 million, the highest in franchise history. However, this is all with two roster spots still to fill," SI's Logan Struck wrote.
With training camp on the horizon, the Nuggets have expressed interest in recently released Cam Whitmore, who is looking for one more shot.
“The Nuggets are showing free agent interest in Cam Whitmore, per The Stein Line. Whitmore is one of the best available unrestricted free agents after being waived by the Cavaliers,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.
Whitmore is a high-level scorer who just needs some work on the defensive end, kind of like DeMar DeRozan, whom they signed in August. The former first-round draft pick was released by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived Cam Whitmore, league sources told hoopshype. Whitmore, the 20th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, has averaged 10.5 points on 45% from the field and 35% from 3-point range in 17.3 minutes during three NBA seasons with the Rockets and Wizards," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto wrote.
Denver only has one roster spot available, but there are some other options if they don't want to commit to a standard contract. Whitmore is just looking for a team to invest in him, which Denver could do.
Whitmore was on his $15 million contract before being let go by Cleveland. The Nuggets will decide whether or not they want to sign him to any deal, but the scoring ability and athleticism are there.
