Darnell Mooney Fantasy Week 2 Start or Sit: Rostered, Not Startable

Mooney managed a tick over a yard per route in the Sunday night win over Dallas, and four of his teammates out-earned him in the target department. He sits 69th among wide receivers in PFN’s Week 2 rankings, nowhere near a lineup decision. I’m keeping him rostered for now, but I’d rather be right fading him 14 times than chase the blowup spots.

Should You Start or Sit Darnell Mooney in Week 2?

In three of the past four seasons, Mooney has played in at least a dozen games and failed to score more than twice. It is true that he led the Giants in targets during the win over the Cowboys on Sunday night, but he managed just a tick over a yard per route and was out-earned in the target department by four of his teammates.

I’d rather be right in fading Mooney 14 times than chase the few blowup spots that seemingly come out of nowhere. I’m keeping him rostered for now, but if Malachi Fields builds on some of the promise he showed last week (four targets earned on 21 routes) and Mooney slips into that WR3 role in an offense that has versatile running backs and spent on a tight end, then I’m sending him to the wire without much thought.
