WASHINGTON (AP) — Shakira Austin had 25 points and 13 rebounds to help the Washington Mystics beat the Connecticut Sun 79-69 on Tuesday night for their franchise-record 27th win of the season.
Washington (27-16) set the previous mark of 26 wins in 2019, en route to the franchise’s only WNBA championship.

The Mystics stretched their lead over Dallas and New York (tied for seventh) to one game with two days remaining in the regular season.
Diamond Miller led Connecticut (10-33) with 19 points. Leila Lacan and Raegan Beers scored 11 points apiece.
McMahon had 13 points and Sonia Citron 12 for the Mystics.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark had 27 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and Kelsey Mitchell added 20 points to her WNBA single-season scoring record as Indiana beat Minnesota.
Indiana kept alive its faint hopes of earning the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and home-court advantage in the first round for at least one more day. It also prevented the Lynx from clinching the No. 1 seed, at least until after Golden State plays later Tuesday.
Mitchell extended her league record to 27 consecutive games with 20 or more points by making a 3-pointer with a little more than two minutes to play. Aliyah Boston added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Fever.
Chloe Bibby scored all of her 15 points on 3s for Minnesota. Liatu King finished with 12 points on a night the Lynx were without Olivia Miles. The record-breaking rookie was a late scratch because of an injured left calf, and her absence clearly had an impact. Miles broke Clark’s single-season scoring record by a rookie on Sunday.

CHICAGO (AP) — Gabriela Jaquez and Sydney Taylor scored 18 points apiece, Kamilla Cardoso added 17, and beat Toronto to snap a five-game losing streak.
The Tempo (11-31) have lost seven in a row and 19 of their last 20.
Jaquez was 8-of-10 shooting and Cardoso made 8 of 11 from the field. Jacy Sheldon scored 12 points and Courtney Vandersloot had 10 points and nine assists for the Sky (16-27).
Cardoso scored eight points during an 18-2 third-quarter run that gave Chicago a 62-48 lead with 3:29 left in the period.
Isabelle Harrison scored 17 of her 21 points in the first half and had 13 rebounds for Toronto. Laura Juskaite added 20 points.
