Dharambir Kumar, Assumes Charge as Head of North Eastern Region Transmission System, POWERGRID

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has appointed Dharambir Kumar, Executive Director (ED), as Head of North Eastern Region Transmission System (NERTS) with effect from 18 September 2026. Dharambir Kumar joined POWERGRID in January 1994 and has over 32 years of experience in the power transmission sector. He holds a B.Sc. Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and promoted to the position of Executive Director in July 2026.
During his long tenure with POWERGRID, Dharambir Kumar has served in various capacities across the North Eastern and Eastern Regions, as well as at corporate and regional offices. His experience includes substation maintenance, operation and maintenance, consultancy, transmission line and substation projects, and project execution. He has also served at Jiribam and Seppa in the North Eastern Region, besides assignments in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Gurgaon, Rajasthan and other locations.
