Jacksonville football lose 2026 AHSAA playoff eligibility over rules violations

Jacksonville High School football has been knocked out of the 2026 AHSAA playoffs due to a rule violation.

The Golden Eagles violated the association's recruiting rule, leading to restrictive probation. The decision follows sanctions earlier this month for playing an ineligible player, which led to the forfeit of one game.
In addition to the restrictive probation and playoff elimination, head coach Jeremy Sullivan and assistant coach Phileepae Holloway will be suspended for one season. Jacksonville will forfeit all games it won in which ineligible players participated.
The Gadsden Times has reached out to Jacksonville High School for a statement. The Golden Eagles' current record stands at 3-2 before any further forfeit decisions. They are set to face Cherokee County on Friday, Sept. 25.
