Getty ImagesNew Jersey native Olivia Miles was named WNBA Rookie of the Year on Monday and has also signed sponsorship deals with adidas and GEICO.
The 5-foot-10 Minnesota Lynx star received all 74 votes for the award from a national panel of sports writers and broadcasters covering the league, after she set the WNBA rookie scoring record. The second pick in the draft out of TCU played in 40 of 44 games and averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals while shooting 49.2% from the field, 38.8% from 3-point range and 87% from the free-throw line.
A native of Phillipsburg, N.J. who played at Blair Academy before starting her college career at Notre Dame, Miles became the sixth winner of the award in Lynx history, following Betty Lennox (2000), Seimone Augustus (2006), Maya Moore (2011), Napheesa Collier (2019) and Crystal Dangerfield (2020).
The WNBA announced the award on Monday (along with naming Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve Coach of the Year), before the Lynx traveled to New York for an elimination game in their best-of-three first-round playoff series on Tuesday. The top-seeded Lynx lost the opener at home 91-75 to the 2024 champion Liberty on Sunday, when Miles had just 11 points on 3-for-12 shooting with four turnovers and four fouls in her postseason debut.
Miles also signed as an official brand ambassador with adidas.
“I am excited to join the adidas Basketball family, because I’ve watched this brand commit to women’s basketball in a way that felt real,” said Miles. “adidas understands that this is about more than a brand deal — it’s about building a future for this sport where the next generation of women has even more room to be themselves.”
She became one of the first athletes to wear adidas Crazy Energy this season and will wear the Anthony Edwards 3 in the WNBA playoffs.
“Olivia is a rare talent, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the adidas Basketball family,” said Candace Parker, President of adidas Women’s Basketball. “As just a rookie, she’s already making waves in the league and I’m excited to watch her chase a championship.”
GEICO also announced it is partnering with Miles. This signing follows GEICO‘s recent partnerships with teammate Napheesa Collier and with the Lynx team.
GEICO has current partnerships with Azzi Fudd and the Dallas Wings, where the Gecko appeared in an AI integration on Azzi’s podcast, and Azzi and Phee were also featured in GEICO‘s content series Miles That Matter, timed to March Madness earlier this year.
Miles, who also plays with Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 women’s pro basketball league, also has sponsorship deals with Uber Eats, Buffalo Wild Wings and GlassesUSA.com, among other brands.
