Pace baseball star Dax Brooks commits to Louisiana Tech

Pace junior shortstop Dax Brooks, the reigning PNJ Hitter of the Year, announced his commitment to Louisiana Tech on Saturday through his Instagram account.

Brooks who was brought up to the Patriots varsity squad halfway through his freshman season, had a breakout sophomore campaign.

Batting leadoff and playing shortstop every game, he hit. 375 with 10 doubles, three home runs, 31 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. He also had a .469 on-base percentage, a .596 slugging percentage and hit .487 with runners in scoring position. Pace finished 26-6, won its sixth straight district title and lost to Buchholz in the Region 1-6A final for the second straight year.

Brooks could see a familiar face at Louisiana Tech, as Grant Walters, the 2025 PNJ Player of the Year, transferred there from Pensacola State College ahead of his sophomore season. The Bulldogs finished 33-25 overall and 19-11 in Conference USA in 2026 and joined the Sun Belt starting with the 2026-27 athletic year.

Brooks, older brother Glenn, is a sophomore for the PSC baseball team and was named to the Panhandle Conference Defensive Team as a freshman.
