The Dream progressed past the first round with relative ease, beating the Washington Mystics 2-0 in a three-game series.
Most recently, they took on the New York Liberty in the first of five ties and won 92-82.
But a full arena sell-out has not been possible so far due to the Dream opting against opening up the full capacity because of the short turnaround, as one spokesperson has now explained.
‘Short turnaround’ reason for Atlanta Dream not opening full arena to fans
As quoted by Front Office Sports, the spokesperson said: “We just decided that with the short turnaround, we would only open the lower bowl and really concentrate on selling those tickets.”
State Farm Arena has a capacity of about 17,000, but the lower bowl can only hold 8,800 people.
The Dream return to State Farm later this week when they play the Liberty in the second of five playoff games.
Win that and they will be just one more victory away from reaching the WNBA Finals later this month.
At present, they will clash with the Golden State Valkyries in the showpiece, who have a 1-0 lead over the Las Vegas Aces in their series.
