The Bruins got outshot 24-19 as the Senators were relentless. Boston also couldn’t score on four different opportunities while on the power play. Ottawa’s Tim Stutzle scored once during a Bruins power play.

It’s only the fourth game of the season, but that loss stung the Bruins and their fans. Defender Nikita Zadorov was blunt when asked how the team played and how they can improve.

"There's no message, everybody knows. We dropped the ball at home, didn't come ready to play today... That's on us to do the homework and make sure that never happens again," Zadorov said.

"We just need to get back to our identity. I think our identity is play really good, structured, defensive hockey."

Picked 16th in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Sabres, Zadorov signed a six-year deal with the Bruins in 2024. He has earned 22 points in two seasons in Boston and had a career-high 20 assists last season. Zadorov had one shot in the Senators game and has two assists this year.

Last season, the Bruins ranked tenth in power-play goals (55). It’s still early, but Boston will need to regroup after this loss.
