At the end of just about every Rockets training camp practice, Engelland has worked with Şengün, Thompson or both on their shooting. He’ll watch their free throws and at times, whip out his phone camera to capture their form. Şengün said Engelland told him to lean back less on his free throws; Thompson said the coach told him to be smooth and not short on his shots. But Engelland, himself a sharpshooter, declined to speak about their forms. “Everybody’s shot is personal … even that [of] a weekend warrior or a 12-year-old boy or girl, their shot is personal,” he said. “They’ve worked at it and so how you approach it to improve it, you have to be very delicate and your timing and messaging has to be that of respect to the shooter.”
