GM of NFR conducts safety inspection of Alipurduar Division

Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), conducted a safety inspection of Alipurduar Division on 7th October, 2026. Devendra Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar and senior officials of NFR accompanied him. The visit focused on reviewing operational safety, upgrading maintenance infrastructure and strengthening staff training facilities.

As part of the visit, the General Manager conducted a window trailing inspection from New Bongaigaon to Alipurduar Junction. He closely examined the condition of railway tracks, bridges, overhead electrical installations and other railway assets along the section to assess their upkeep and identify maintenance requirements.

At Alipurduar Junction, the General Manager visited the station yard, Carriage and Wagon Depot and Multidisciplinary Zonal Training School. He inaugurated a newly constructed pit line, a Bio-Toilet Laboratory and a Carriage and Wagon Model cum Staff Training Room. These facilities are expected to strengthen coach inspection, support effective maintenance of bio-toilet systems and enhance hands-on learning for staff. The improvements will contribute to greater rolling stock reliability, better cleanliness and enhanced passenger comfort.

The General Manager also inaugurated an Automatic Block Signalling Model Room, an IP Exchange and an AI-enabled Smart Learning Centre. These facilities will deepen staff understanding of signalling systems, strengthen communication infrastructure and support technology-based learning. He further laid the foundation stone of a Multidisciplinary Sports Complex at Alipurduar Junction. The proposed complex will promote physical fitness, encourage sports participation and nurture sporting talent among railway employees, while encouraging teamwork and discipline.

These initiatives underline N. F. Railway’s commitment to modernising infrastructure and investing in its workforce to deliver safer, more efficient and passenger focused railway services.
