The Bruins are about to feel whole again, and just at the right time. Charlie McAvoy aims to make an immediate impact now that his suspension has been lifted.

McAvoy was serving a six-game suspension after slashing the Sabres' Zach Benson in the playoffs in May. He’s been able to practice with his teammates, but hasn’t hit the ice when it matters most. When he hasn’t played, he’s watched games high above the TD Garden.

Now back in action, McAvoy is excited to return to the ice and help out his teammates.

"I think you have to remember that sometimes everything looks really easy from up there. I guess it is a nice perspective to kind of see it from that bird’s-eye view, but it isn’t fun being up there,” McAvoy said via The Boston Globe. "So, I’m really excited to be back down on the ice and in the fight with the guys."

Selected 14th in the 2016 NHL Draft, the Bruins' alternate captain from Long Island scored seven goals and had 25 assists during the 2017-18 season. McAvoy had a career-high 50 assists last season, earning 61 points.

McAvoy delivered a two-handed slash to Benson in the playoffs. Even with his suspension, the Bruins have held on without him, going 4-2 to start the season. The team is on a two-game win streak heading into a Tuesday matchup against the Sharks.

Starting his season on a long road trip out west, McAvoy, paired with defensemen like Hampus Lindholm, is ready to make an impact wherever he is placed.

"I’m going to try and get involved [offensively]. I love that side of the game and try and do it responsibly. I know that he can do the same when the time is right,” McAvoy said about Lindholm.

"I think every one of our defensemen back here has the ability to do that and join and be that second layer. I know [Lindholm] does open that up for me being so good defensively as he is, but I know he likes to go sometimes, too. So, we’ll take care of each other and I’m excited to get going."
