It was not a good Saturday for LSU football. They came into the game against Kentucky as favorites and left with an overtime loss. Kentucky fans made sure to let Lane Kiffin hear it as he left the field.
On Saturday, Kiffin and LSU will look to rebound from the 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky, but will be facing another ranked opponent. This time, it will be Mississippi State. Miss State is coming off a bye week after their loss to Alabama. In that game, Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor was beat up, leaving his status for this week up in the air, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.
“Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor’s status for the game at LSU on Saturday is in flux. A decision on whether he’ll play will be made later in the week. He’s dealing with a foot injury from earlier this year that clearly impacted him against Alabama on Oct. 3,” Thamel posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Taylor has been great for Mississippi State this year. He has completed 102 of 154 passes for 1,450 yards. He also had 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Further, Taylor has run for 159 yards and a touchdown. With Fluff Bothwell, the Bulldogs’ top running back, also dealing with injuries, the status of Taylor is taking even more importance.
If Taylor is not able to go, freshman Parker Puckett is expected to make the start. He took over for Taylor against Alabama and also saw action against ULM earlier this year. Overall, he has completed eight of 14 passes for 89 yards this season.
Number 22 LSU visits 16th-ranked Mississippi State on Saturday, with kickoff set for 12 pm ET.
